El Corral del Castaño
(Building of the XVIII century)

Once upon a time in a lost paradise called

La Alpujarra, the legend tells that time stood still

featuring the passion lived between a young

Christian and a beautiful Moorish girl.

Legend talks; the only witnesses of their love

have been a chestnut tree, still standing and

a corral, now disappeared bringing forth...

"El Corral del Castaño"

This essence of passion and love was transformed into culinary art, where traditional cooking risen from a mixture of aromas and flavors converts a visit to this place into a journey to the past, where a long forgotten passion is reborn.

The menu offers dishes of the most traditional and historical recipes carefully selected and prepared daily from the freshest ingredients available on the market

Enjoy the quiet and pleasant atmosphere,
observing the village's live on the central "Plaza"
beside the terrace, accompanied by one of the famous
and tasteful Spanish wines the restaurant's "bodega"
has to offer.

Three different dining rooms to choose the style and
decoration you prefer for your dinner or lunch in the
most adequate atmosphere.

A total capacity for 97 persons presents a spacious
environment for weddings and all kind of celebrations.

In "El Corral del Castaño" the gourmet traveller can find all the culinary essence
of "La Alpujarra", which converts it into a magic and privileged place.

To start with, one should try and taste the excellent Spanish wines, presented with tasteful "Tapas".
- Tapas with cheese and ham, both from traditional local production, which are an example to find back to the since always good taste of the well done.
- Tapas from the "new cuisine",  which make your five senses enjoy those little culinary artworks.
- Our Tapas are, of course, accompanied by homemade bread and the best "virgin extra" olive oil to caress even the most pretentious palate.

After having taken the aperitif in the bodega you should  enter the restaurant, arriving the dining room with it's simple but majestic architecture, that show the manorial Alpujarra houses of the XVIII century.

In this part of the restaurant you can enjoy the genuine high quality cuisine
of the owner with it's typical traditional Mediterranean taste and flavors.

The elaboration of our courses is the result of our daily work and effort, where the only secret is: All our dishes are carefully prepared by slow cooking with products
of the best quality in traditional homemade style.

With this combination of quality and a well done professional work, we achieved
that our restaurant converted into a great exponent of La Alpujarra's kitchen range.

Not to forget the great variety of wines to go with those rich courses. Wines from such  famous vineyards like; La Rioja,  Ritxora del Duero, Prioratos, etc...

To finish such a dinner or lunch, there is nothing better than to try our variety of homemade desserts, prepared by using antique recipes of almost forgotten times.

We await your visit; until then with kind regards,
Carmen y Manuel
