Capileira, at 1.436 m above sea level, stands at the head of the three villages in the Poqueira Ravine and has become the most popular of these villages, due to it's efforts for an excellent service to the traveler.

High peak area environmental interpreting service starting from Capileira

Southern slope

The eastern high peaks are categorized as a maximum protected area in the Sierra Nevada due to the exceptional characteristics of the ecosystem. Its fragile balance needs a high level of conservation and protection.

Since 1999 the high peaks area has been included in the National Park and as a result,  also the stretch road that crosses them. As a measure to protect the ecosystem in the high mountain areas the administration company of the Natural Park and the National Park Trust, agreed to regulate access by road with private vehicles to the Mulhacén - Veleta sector.

Consequently, a information and control point has been established to the access to Mulhacén and Pico de Veleta. The park's administration provides a environment interpreting service with minibus and guide to the general public who wants to go beyond the controls in a vehicle. This service is available in summertime, leaving from Capileira village to Puerto Molina and Mirador Trevelez.

We suggest some routes with different timetables, that allow  you to have a direct contact with the marvelous places in  Sierra Nevada. The timetable and number of services change  with season and weather conditions. It is recommended to call us previously by phone.   Actual time table: Weekends - 4 times per day (due to the limited places in the minibus it is highly recommended to make a reservation by phone). During the week the service runs on demand.
